You’ve Got Crabs Rules – How to Play Instructions (Updated 2020)

This is a fast-paced card game for 4 to 10 players. in the game, all the players are equally divided into teams. And each team try to catch crabs.

You’ve got crabs rules are simple but you have to play the game a couple of times to fully understand all the rules.

You get 78 cards, 28 crab tokens, and a crabbing license in your game Box. The objective of the game is to catch the most amount of crabs by the end of the game to win the game.

In Short

In the game, all the players get a hand of 4 cards. then each player swaps their hand cards with the cards in the center of the play area.

This goes on until any players have four of a kind. As soon as any player collects four of a kind. They signal to their partner.

And the partner shouts, you’ve got crabs. When they’re right, that teams score a point but if they’re wrong, then their teams lose a point.

If any player found cheating by fake clamming of having crabs before they do, the accusing player takes their point.

In the end, the team with the most points wins the game.

You’ve Got Crabs Rules

The cards can be only played in teams and only 2 players can be on one team.

Each team has to come up with a sign to signal their partner during the play.
Some example of signs:

Touching eyebrows, pulling at an ear, sniffing. The sign needs to be unique, so the other teams do not understand it.

Now, shuffle the deck and place the cards face-down in the center of the play area. This is your draw pile, place the crabbing license card next to the cards.

How to Play You’ve Got Crabs (Gameplay)

Choose a player who will deal the cards and tokens. Each player gets four cards and two crabs tokens.

Place the remaining 8 tokens on the table and place four face-up cards next to the draw pile. One player from each team may swap cards simultaneously.

The goal of the game is to collect four of a kind. When you have four of a kind you will use your secret sign to pass the message, that you have four of a kind.

As soon as the partner sees the sign and shout out, You’ve got crabs. That team scores a point. If another team member has picked up your sign and yells “You’ve got crab”, then, you lose a point.

The game continues until any teams reach the decided amount of points. because there are no official rules for that. So players have to decide that before playing the game.
